Claire Jones, LSCSW, LCSW, MSW

I am an engaged therapist and involved in the process, offering feedback and suggestions - rather than only listening.

Session with me looks like:

  • Choosing a more open or more structured session format, depending on what appears most useful.

  • Slowing things down to better understand what is coming up for you in a moment.

  • Experimenting with tools and strategies that can be used outside of sessions.

  • Learning to navigate inner conflicts, and working with different parts of you.

  • Learning to feel more present in your body and to use that awareness more readily.

  • Use of EMDR, as appropriate, to address our work more directly if something is asking for that attention.

My work integrates therapeutic approaches such as EMDR, CBT, DBT, solution focused work, somatic techniques, and parts based work.

While obtaining my master’s degree, in Social Welfare from the University of Kansas, I was afforded clinical experiences as a high school social worker at Hogan Preparatory Academy, and as a therapist at Johnson County Community Mental Health as part of the crisis walk-in team.

Post graduation I obtained Geriatric Champion Certification through The University of Kansas Medical Center in 2015, and was the recipient of a two year Fellowship with The Greater Kansas City Psychoanalytic Institute in 2019-2021.

I began my private practice in the Lee's Summit area, in 2015, counseling children and adults involved with the Department of Children and Families and in high conflict cases involving families.  Another valuable experience was the time I spent treating and supporting people in skilled nursing facilities across Missouri.

My training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing was in 2021, and I anticipate receiving my certification before the end of 2026.
